I'm looking for an Aero 3A pylon which is used on the centerline of a Douglas Skyraider. Almost all variants of the Skyraider used this pylon. Any leads would be appreciated.

As opposed to the Douglas bomb ejector/pylon?

Hi Hal,
From all the pictures I've seen, the centerline pylon is unique. The books I have also list the Aero 3A as what is on the centerline and not in any other position. I do have a spare centerline pylon from an A4 Skyhawk I can modify in worst case scenario.

Our AD-4N parts book lists the centerline "Bomb & Torpedo installation" as Douglas P/N 5254272 which fits internally and is accessed in the H3ll Hole. Though some versions of the -4 used "Ejector & Rack, 14 in. installation" P/N 5430912. This version bolts up under the belly of the beast (where it will stay well lubricated) and is covered by a fairing.

I assume that the Aero 3 is the unit installed on the AD-5, 6 & 7?

Hi Hal,
Thanks for those numbers. My AD-1 manual doesn't give me any of the numbers for the armament. My research has been limited to reference books and not an actual IPC as we don't have one for the AD-1. I'm curious to see some pictures of the mounting as you describe. I'll take some pictures of what I assume is the mounting on ours.
Thanks,
David

Drat, the HFM's AD just left for SoCal this morning and won't be back until after the Heritage Flight Conference; so I can't get any pics of ours. But, I''ll try to remember to copy the relevant pages from our parts book to scan for you. I haven't been able to find reference to an Aero 3A yet and I'm just trying to figure out just which one you're looking for...

David, I've got copies of the relevant pages from the AD-4 parts book if you're interested. Just let me know and I'll scan 'em and send them off.
