SOLD

I thought someone here might be interested in a recent acquisition I made at an estate auction of a WWI and WWII Lieut. Colonel. It is a Brass Pryene Fire Extinguisher with the Black Enameled metal mounting. It is all original, and what makes this one very unique is that it is Stamped into the brass in 1/2" high lettering "STINSON AIRCRAFT" the data plate on the fire extinguisher has the standard Pyrene information but at the top it says "Aircraft Type" The Serial Number on this particular one is 691578. II thought I would share this with those who have or use Stinson aircraft. If you or anyone you might know is interested, please email me. I primarily collect WWII USAAF items, but thought this was so neat as it is clearly issued with Stinson Aircraft.

I have checked with vintage plane restorers, two museums, and an expert on vintage fire extinguishers, and they say this is a unique find. I know it is a bit scratchy, and I am not going to attempt to clean it as someone could easily have this re-plated and restored fairly easily. I am asking $275 for the unit, I know you don't know me from Adam, but if it helps I am a WWII aviation buff and former police chief, I have a 100% rating on eBay, my user-name is carlsm37. I was going to list it there, but as a collector myself I know how things like this do not always wind up with some one who really wants it. (I know I have three restored military vehicles and am always looking for specific parts).

I have included two photos, one of the STINSON AIRCRAFT extinguisher, and one for comparison (for heavy vehicles) that I polished on a buffing wheel.

Thanks for looking
