Moving to a new warehouse and I've come to the conclusion that's it's difficult to retail these items from Indonesia so I've decided to sell the whole package wholesale for US$4,500 I'll put a complete list together by the weekend but the package includes 50" and 75" MAP gauges (single and twin engine), Artificial Horizons , turn and bank indicators , RMIs , suction gauges , a couple of BEMP gauges (DC-6 or similar I think) , temp gauges , oil pressure gauges etc, 6,000 fpm VSIs etc . Most are AN or AF part numbers dated 41 to 44. Also a couple of Russian AHs out of a TU-16 or IL-28 bomber. Condition ranges from New Surplus , Overhauled , Serviceable as Removed and Repairable. Could be good for a warbird workshop , warbird owners group or a warbird nut who wants to have a bit of fun and profit on e-bay Have a look at the photos and PM me or email me at tony.gurney@asean-aerospace.com [img] |

Sir, Be glad you are not in the U.S., You would be considered a hazardous waste site. All of the instruments would be confiscated, and you would be charged for the cleanup. Laterrrrr Avn-Tech |

radium deteriorates with age. it more or less crumbles or gets crusty & has a dark olive green /brownish hue to it. any radium in the instruments that are in that description is what is occuring. if it glows then it's still hot. the dust from the deteriorating radium can be a hazard for the obvious reason of breathing it in, or absorbed in unprotected skin. any instrument with cracked or no glass bezels should be carefully set away with as little handling as possible. wear a mask & gloves. i'm not a nuclear scientist but i've handled & learned much about ww2 instruments of all nations & own a number of them myself. no instrument should be dismantled either. here in the u.s. this issue has caused quite a stir with government environment agencies. i know of armed raids by police & government officials where there have been mass confiscations of of large quantities of hot instruments. i have heard there is a process of getting old instruments radium free but have no clue of the process. some high profile ww 2 collectable dealers sell the instruments supposedly as "radium free." i have no clue to the truth of that statement, but they advertise the sale of instruments in this way freely in catalogs & websites. |

Post subject: | Current Regs |
It is interesting how the current regs on aircraft instruments with radium paint seek to control small amounts of radium, not including watches and clocks which are exempt, where in the 1950s and 1960s the residents in the western states were the test subjects of above ground nuclear tests. Stay indoors during the tests and all will be okay. ![]() Here is a link to current regs: http://www.aia.net/pressroom/radiumdialnews.html Remember, just do not eat the snow. ![]() |
