Don't laugh when I tell you this--it is entirely true. The large F-84 tanks were used for pontoon boat floats in the Sioux City, Iowa area after the F-84 was phased out at the ANG unit there. Twenty years ago I knew where two of the boats were stored, but they are probably long gone by now. Scott |

I put into NASM for a full set of F-84F technical drawings earlier this month. Worst case, when I get the microfilm I could look through the index and see if the drop tank manufacturer's technical drawings are included with what I have. NASM is slow on microfilm turnaround time, so it might be a bit until I have it. That way you could at least do authentic looking mockups of them. |
