Warbird Information Exchange

It was 16 F for a high in St. Louis today. I managed to get the turret parts hangar up to about 25 F but only by using several Propane heaters. They work quite well but they suck all the Oxygen out of the air. Of course the instructions tell you to only use them in a well ventilated area but that more or less defeats the purpose of the heater. I have found that warm clothing in combination with substantial amounts of Amber Bock and Stout seem to minimize the effects of a low Oxygen environment.

I'm not really sure what Navy plane used the AN/APS-3 Radar or how this magnet was used in the system. I can tell you that if you manage to remove the small metal disk positioned between the N and S poles on this thing, and then try to replace the disc, your fingers better be out of the way when it finally gets close to it's "home" position. I've never seen a magnet with this kind of power. I find old beer and soda cans mixed in with the turret parts all the time. Don't worry, we were not drinking 1971 vintage Schlitz.

When I first saw the picture I was wondering to myself...do they even make Schlitz beer anymore? You might want to just stick with the Red Bull and invest in a couple of electric space heaters instead. The last thing your wife needs is to find you passed out on the hanger floor from carbon monoxide poisoning. I'm tempted to drive down there so I can enjoy the warm weather. The temp up here in North Central Wisconsin yesterday was a high of -8 degrees and a low of -21 degrees. Subtract another 15 degrees or so for the windchill and you get the picture.
