Here are some pics of a piece of equipment that we were told goes to a B-29 autopilot. The only problem is, Gary was not able to locate the numbers on it in the B-29 manual. So my question is does anybody recognize it, and if you do recognize it, what does it go to? ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

I don't know if these were on the B-29, but the A-5 preceded the C-1 autopilot which was definitely on the B-29. |

Forgotten Field is spot on. What you have is a servo for the Sperry A-5 Autopilot that was used with the Sperry S-1 bomb sight. The Sperry S-1 and A-5 were used in several aircraft especially the B-24. The B-29 almost exclusively used the Norden M series sight which was integral with the C-1 autopilot. Youe servo is one of three that were used in the A-5 system. |
