Question on PWA Tools?

Tue Sep 16, 2008 8:49 pm

In going through some old auction items purchased at an auction in the past, I found some PWA tools. The tools are splined holding fixtures and have the following numbers:

PWA 2509

PWA 2609. This tool is similar to the PWA 2509, just a larger internal splined end.

What engine or engines were these used on?

I checked my 1830 manuals and ruled out these PNs applying to the 1830 tool list.

Here are a few more Pratt & Whitney tools that have an application that is yet to be identified.

PWA 1597 is similar to the previous holding fixtures.

PWA 1999 is a puller/pusher tool, but for what part on a radial or turbine engine?

PWA 1999 Reduction Drive Puller

I show PW1999 is a Reduction Drive Gear Puller for the 1830 with 16:9 Rigid Reduction Gearing. I beleive that would be the following dash numbers -45,-47,-49,-51,-53,-82,-90 (some).

gschwartz,

Thanks for the ID on the PWA 1999.

The R-985/R-1340 Overhaul Manual tool section lists PWA-6 through PWA-5854, but none of these tools are applicable to those engines.

The number series of these tools puts them in the R-1830 and larger radial engine group of tools. What were the other tools in this thread used on?
