Hello,

I am new to this forum, and an avid cockpit restoration enthusiast from Canada. My passion has been restoring Cold War Era jet cockpit panels and collecting pilot headgear, (Helmets & O2 Masks including High Altitude and NBC Aviator headgear), jet age mostly from late 60's to present day. I also have collected genuine validated space artifacts, a Russian EVA Orlan Space Suit glove flown and signed by Maj. General Valerie Korzun Cosmonaut Pilot and Commander of the MIR 22 Space Station, it was also signed by the flight Engineer on that Space Mission.
Aviation artifacts collecting has been enjoyable now for more than 16 years, and I enjoy it immensly.
These are the following Jet Cockpit panel projects I have completed over the last 3 years; the Canadian Avro CF-100 jet interceptor, the Canadair (North American) F-86 Sabre interceptor, the Canadair (Lockheed) CF-104 Starfighter, the Canadian McDonnell Douglas CF-101B Voodoo interceptor. I'm presently working on completing my current jet panel project, the McDonnell Douglas F-4D Phantom interceptor. This panel is about 95% complete, and I do require some assistance locating and aquiring the elusive "BOMB/MISSILE CONTROL PANEL" located on the extreme bottom left of this panel. My cockpit panel is actually an F-4C early mod to an F-4D I think. This is because all the instruments and controls including HUD are F-4C until you look at the mount holes for the bomb panel. The mount holes indicate only an F-4D bomb panel will fit there. Any assistance with answers to this configuration would be greatly appreciated. I'm not that familiar with all the Mods on the Phantom but I do know there were many over the years for a variety of models.
The rest of the panel is complete including HUD, and the only other minor parts I require to complete this F-4D panel are 2 panel checklist placards, and the overheat annunciator box lights located on the top right of the panel.
I have photos of this project to best illustrate what I'm seeking to aquire to complete this panel.
This forum is excellent, and I look forward to communicating with anyone whom may have this item available for sale or for an interesting trade, and any answers to my questions.
Many thanks,
cheers,
Andy
Canada :)

Andy,
You would think there would be some odds and ends at the local salvage yards that for years have made their living off of the MAC plant here in St. Louis. I could make a few calls for you and see what I can turn up. We only built 5,000+ F-4s in this town, sadly there are none on indoor display. I have a good friend who collects vintage military jet stuff and he has a complete F-4C here in town. I'll give him a call and see if he has anything. Good Luck! Albert Stix jr.

Hello Albert,
Thanks so very much for your reply to my query reference the F-4D. I really appreciate your assistance in my search for the elusive parts.
Here is my contact telephone number should you or your friend like to call. The number is 1-613-920-2657 this is my cel number. I can also e-mail you detailed high resolution photos of the exact Bomb/Missile control panel I'm seeking for best clarification. I can also send photos of my F-4 panel as it looks presently, just let me know ok?
Also please provide your e-mail address if that's ok with you or your friend's name and contact number if he wishes to communicate better. I can call him anytime if that is ok?
Hopefully you or your friend could possibly better identify my specific panel mod, and narrow down the exact model my panel is using the photos as a reference. Searching on e-bay lists only very little in the way of this type of artifact. That is why I thought it would be best to make use of contacts via forums where people are in the know such as yourself and your friend.
Like I said I am a collector of artifacts for well over 16 years now, and I would gladly pay for this item or make an interesting trade.

I look forward to your reply, and thanks once again for your assistance to complete my Phantom cockpit project.
Cheers, and thanks again,
Andy McGraw

Andy,

At the Bulverde, TX airport, there is a surplus business. The guy sells all kinds of electronics, and of course miltary surplus.

He had several F-4 phantom electronic boxes the last time I was there.

A few years back, I bought a box that IIRC, served to control weapons on the Phantom...... seems to be a non-functional device.

I could check on it when I make it back home to Texas (do not know when, though) and if it is the box tha you seek, I will be glad to give it to you, for free.

Saludos,

Tulio
