I thought it was an excellent film. but VERY intense. Kind of like the first 20 minutes of Saving Private Ryan, but for two hours. I saw it in the theater, and about halfway through was wishing for an intermission just to decompress a bit. Definitely not something I'd just pop in on a rainy afternoon for some light entertainment! He said that it was about dead-on accurate, although a few events had to be compressed and characters combined..nothing unusual for a dramatization.
I had the exact same impression. The attention to detail for the MH-60s, uniforms, the airport hangar, and downtown were remarkable for Hollywood. I too read the book and have often said that I wish every US citizen would see this film and learn the story.
