It was engraved 'Outstanding Crew of the Month - 388th Bombardment Group and listed 2 B-17 crews, one for August 1944 led by Dong Ong, and the other September 1944 led by Johnnie Colburn. I set out to find what had happened to these men, if they survived, and why the trophy was awarded to them. It was a detailed but rewarding search and the book gives a snapshot of life and aerial warfare in 1944.
