since there are so many B-17's and the B-17 Registry is currenly undergoing overhaul, I figure that this a/c desrves its own section.

It looks like Edwin G Pipp Service Number O-791496 was on board.
10 Feb 1943 crash landed B-17 42-5258 in Cornwall with no injuries to the crew. Poor visibility at that time. Planes were returning from Marrakech.

Some additional information that I just found:
10/02/1943 1335hrs Boeing B-17F 42-5258 U.S. 8th Air Force en-route from Morocco, North Africa crashed in a field at Treswithick Farm, Cardinham. The aircraft was completely smashed, but the 9 occupants were safe.
