since there are so many B-17's and the B-17 Registry is currenly undergoing overhaul, I figure that this a/c desrves its own section.

B17G Data Plate Found

Tue Jul 14, 2015 11:28 am

Hello I resently purchased a box of German & US patches and pins all WW2 stuff. In the box was also this data plate. I was wondering how I can get information on this plane. I found some from 1 website but tells very little about its history. It states:

B-17G 43-39105 n/a 96BG 337BS 43-39105 Delivered: Lincoln 3/12/44; Grenier 15/12/44; Assigned: 337BS/96BG [AW-Q] 17/12/44; MIA Zeitz 31/3/45 Pilot: Wes Seidenburg, Co-Pilot: Max Higginson, Navigator: John Buening, Bombardier: Lee Woods, Radio Operator: Jim Eggen, Ball Turret Gunner: Chas Clapp, Waist Gunner: Floyd Baker, Waist Gunner: Jack Gillis (8RTD); Engineer / Top Turret Gunner: John Cameron, Tail Gunner: Ed Hrack (2KIA); flak, forced landing Fulda, Germany. Salvaged. from battle damage 14/4/45. Source: B-17 Master Log - Dave Osbourne.

If you have any information or lead me in a direction it would be appreciated. Thanks, Sean
