This one looked as if it was well on it's way to being a flyer. I searched for an update on this airplane but no joy. Any of you guys out in the state of Washigton have any news or updated photo's? Or did I miss a post?

Just saw an earlier post that this one belongs to Paul Allen, so---won't be any news till it takes off. Warbird Registry is out of date.

According to the latest edition of The Final Cut... "...it remains in disassembled storage. There is little information available about it's current location, condition, or future."

It's still in one of the green buildings on the SW corner of Arlington Wa. airport along with stuff that would cause you all to step on your tongues!
Things happen @ Vulcan at their own speed, and on no particular schedules-when the next project flies (that should be the two seat A6M @ the Museum @ KPAE) everyone will know, until then see what else a warehouse full of money gets you? hahahaha - that is funny. Sad but true, things up there move at a given pace and if you don't like it, well, even if you had the money to compete at that level you still are not gonna win. I think that the Vulcan Foundation is a good protector of these planes but they do move at thier own speed.

I remember reading about a flying B-17E (former Bolivian meat hauler) that was ferried to the Pacific Northwest a few years ago. Is this the same one?

Amazing work so far. interesting to me is why the shiny aluminum? I'm assuming this is all new skin and that is the way aluminum looks rolled out new. I'm not an A&P guy so I have no idea. I would assume an O/D paint scheme would be in order once this B-17E was completed. Does that mean primer and then O/D?

The few pictures I've seen over the years of this plane show it being natural metal. I'm guessing the intent is to keep it that way. Why polish the individual components to that extent only to paint them? Just a guess...

Very good pictures in the link. Too bad it isnt assembled.
Final Cut has a shot of the overall aircraft when it was delivered to Washington. That was the only pic I have seen of it.
