The Toronto Aerospace Museum has finished their full-scale Avro Arrow replica that took eight years to complete. I was able to shoot the Arrow leaving Bombardier after it was painted in their paint shop on Thursday September 21st.

Bombardier employee’s were able to inspect the replica and marvel at it’s size before it was rolled back to TAM’s facility.

For those that are interested a Gala Fundraiser will be held this Thursday (Oct 5th) at the museum, a members day to view the replica will be held on the 7th and an Official unveiling will be held next Sunday on the 8th.

More photos of the replica can be seen at http://www.airic.ca/html/tam_arrow_replica.html

For more info on events visit the Museum's website at http://www.torontoaerospacemuseum.com/arrowrollout/index.html

Happy Landings,

Eric

I have to ask, what is with the cables attached between the fin and wings? Is it a temporary thing??

That's fantastic. I'm seldom impressed, but that is really cool. 8)

That really is a 3D work of art!

wow, very nice. I am also curious about the rigging.

was there not another full-size replica made some time ago? I believe it appeared in the 1997 m.o.w. "The Arrow" with Dan Akroyd; at any rate, where is it now? And what are the chances for a double Arrow photo-op....

cheers & thanks for the pics

I think the American's made them destroy it after filming was done  Just joking.

That is pretty cool!

In Dec, 1999 It was at the Canadian Aviation Hall of Fame/Reynolds Collection in Wetaskwin, AB where it was built. It should still be there. My uncle knows the guy that built it and I saw it before and after it was built. It was also pretty impressive, awesome!.

Thanks for posting the photo Eric. Great job by the TAM and congrats to them for a job well done. Seeing the replica takes you back to Oct 1957 when the Arrow was first rolled out. Regarding the cables, I wonder if they had the same problem of drooping wings that the movie Arrow had and the cables are holding them up?

Below is the other Arrow.

Brian....

It is my understanding the cables and wheel braces are only in place while it is being moved around as a precaution and should be removed once it goes on permanent display. It still has a few more moves this weekend before it will rest in one place.
