Lt Col Ben Rimmerman of the 353rd FG orbits a German train he has just straffed and destroyed
in the late summer of 1944 in France.

Too bad the quality is poor, but the composition of the photo is great! :D

It's typical of a photo taken in combat.

Jack, my dad got several trains/locomotives with his 51. He described to me about what a big explosion it was when you hit that boiler with your 50's. He said it would get REAL exciting if they were carrying a lot of ammo. As always thanks for posting your collection. :D

Robbie,
Post some of your dad's photos!
I just met a awesome guy who flew in the 363rd!
Col Art Owen was transfered from the 354th FG to beef
up the 363rd early on. He flew 30 missions or so and had a couple kills before he went down. He joined up with the resistance but they couldn't
get him out so he fought with them for 6 months blowing up stuff, doing
ambushes ect!!
There also was a 363rd pilot who from Salem here who lived just a couple blocks away from me.

Jack, I wish I had some pics to post. The only good one I have is him standing on the wing after a mission. One of these days when I figure out how, I will post it. If you get a chance check out The 363rd Fighter Group In World War II. Dad contributed some accounts in that book. :)

Kent Miller's book is awesome - one of the treasured items in my collection...

I have a shot of Ben Rimmerman leading the 55th FG for a mission in April 1945 - his a/c has 55th FG codes but still shows 353rd FG nose-colors and noseart.... - and it later was sold to the Swiss AF....
