Hiller UH-12, Raven

Since last Thursday, or so we've had the good fortune to be visited by a
UH-12 leasurely "growling" it's way over the peninsula and up the west shore a few times.
We have several Vets out this way that enjoy seeing this bird making her
evening visits.
Whoever you are...Thanks! Any history on this bird? There are several registered
in Houston, but this is the first time I've seen one in these parts.

Not sure Rick, my first contact with it was short..a glimpse through the Pecan
trees about a half mile away and maybe 5-800'...looked bronze. I saw it
again Monday again shortly before dusk and it looked like the tailboom
was more of a yellow, but he was about a mile away. Sorry, I've mentioned
before how the light in Houston can be weird thru our..umm..unique atmosphere near dusk.
The old Army heli mechanic I know has bad eyes now. We both noted, we
could hear the Lycoming growling-along long before and after our visuals..
bout 15 minutes total. He wasn't in a hurry. Hopefully they'll be back.
I got home early enough last night, but we got drizzle so they didn't show.

Are there any UH-12's at Elli?

I believe that I have photos of the Hiller you have mentioned.

There were two at Ellington. A yellow one that belonged to Jim Moriarty ( the former owner of the UH-34) has been sold but don't know to who. There was another in Army paint but unfortunately it was wrecked in an off airport landing.

I remember him..another one of those great folks leaving a trail of flying memories.
H*ll, the LRRP even broke silence for once to mention the Hiller.

Is Mr. Moriarty still trying to resurrect a Scooter?

Sorry to hear that Rick, he did hint on his post here of Scooter's inappropriate demands. :twisted:

I did find the Hiller though. Not too hard considering the choices. She was
sitting less than 100 feet from where I saw Jim's UH-34 about 6 yrs ago.
She's teaching school and a sightseer bird now. New owners, N40289..
