Showing any good pre-Midway early war pictures of the Hornet's Dauntlesses (ie. in the red and white striped tail configuration and carrying the early war star with the red ball in the middle)? I'm trying to sponsor a model design contest for my website at http://www.doolittleraid.com and am looking for some pictures, especially ones that I could use. I would also be interested in pre-Midway Enterprise pics.

I don't have any photographs, but I've got this scan of Robert Taylor's painting, "The Battle of the Coral Sea". As you can see, they're from VB-2 of the Lexington, but perhaps they can give the contestants some idea of what the paint scheme looks like.

This is from p. 75 of Air Combat Paintings, Volume III.

Thanks for that information. I'm hoping that someone will be able to help out. There's a thread on the main cardmodel site that's come up with a few profiles of the Enterprise planes, but that's about it.
