Anyone else going? I should be there all day Saturday.
I should be wearing my RedTail Project T-shirt and a Warbird Digest Hat...

The Third Annual Cowtown Warbird Roundup will be held Saturday, August 12, 2006, 11:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. at Meacham Field’s Vintage Flying Museum located 505 NW 38th Street, Hangar 33s. This year’s theme is “Welcome Home Vets”.

The event, sponsored by the OV-10 Bronco Association, the Forward Air Controller’s Museum and the Vintage Flying Museum of Fort Worth, will feature over 50 warbird aircraft from World War II, Korea, Vietnam and today. These aircraft will be on display and available for inspection by visitors. There will also be tours of “Chuckie” the famous WWII B-17 housed at the Vintage Flying Museum.

Invited aircraft include: F-16, F-18, F-15, AV-8, T-38, T-6, A-10, C-130, A-1, O-2, AH-1, CH-46, CH-53 and many more. The Forward Air Controller’s Museum will also dedicate its newly restored U.S. Air Force O-2 Skymaster.

There will be an emphasis on helicopters this year to coincide with the U.S. Marine Corps Combat Helicopter Association reunion which will be held in Fort Worth the same weekend. Members of that organization will also be attending the Warbird Roundup.

Presentations will include “History of Aviation in the DFW Metroplex” by Col. Knox Bishop (Ret.), former Curator of the Frontiers of Flight Museum. There will also be an exhibit on photojournalism in Iraq by Sgt. Joel Chaverri, Military Photojournalist of the year for 2005. A “History of Forward Air Control” will be given by Jim Hodgson, President, OV-10 Bronco Association.

Numerous exhibitors and vendors will also be in attendance to offer information about the 9/11 Flight Crew Memorial Foundation, the International Bird Dog Association, Veteran’s Affairs, the VA Hospital’s Fisher House and other community related organizations. Aviation related items will be available for sale, including artwork, wooden aircraft replicas, aviation memorabilia, hats and T-shirts.

Admission is $5.00 per person at the gate. There are no advanced ticket sales. Children under 12 attend free of charge when accompanied by an adult. Active and reserve servicemen and women, in uniform, will also be admitted free. Proceeds from the event will help its non-profit sponsors pursue their goals of restoring aircraft for display to the public and provide educational programs of an aviation nature to the Fort Worth community.

I'm back from a whrilwind trip to Texas. The Cowtown Warbird Round up was a great time. Looked like they had a good turn out.
Two airworthy H-34's from Oklahoma (I wish I had seen them come in).

YL37 is a combat vet.
