A question perhaps a fellow Canuck can answer. I was driving back from a business trip in northern Ontario yesterday and met a flatbed truck heading north on Highway 11 from North Bay, carrying a CF-5.

I assume it was coming from Mountainview, but have no idea where it might have been headed. I assume some museum out west. Anyone have any light they can shed on this.

Interestingly, on the same drive I also met a truck carrying two large four-bladded props with nose cones. Hard to guess the size in the rear-view mirror, but they were certainly too big for a Cessna. Strange load to see.

The answer is clear.

They are going to modify the CF-5 into a VTOL tilt-rotor job.

Email Mr.Diemert for details.

If it's heading west, it might be for the Air Force Museum Society of Alberta, they're the only ones I've heard are getting a CF-5.

There's some info on their website at http://www.airforcemuseumalberta.ca/

Wonder where she was going? Did you happen to get a serial number?

Peter,

Unfortunately, at an approach speed of over 200 km/h, it was tough to get the serial!! Downside of spotting something in the rear-view mirror. But I think it was in an aggressor paint scheme, since it was mostly grey rather than the typical dark camouflage scheme.
