I'm not sure where is really fits so I'm posting here, Sorry Scott. The Navy area seems to have a different swing to it.

For all those across the pond, if you don’t know about this you should.

Someone posted this on another board (homebrew board) and I felt this needed to be shared here!

Last I heard the deal to turn her into a museum had fallen through and a scrapyard in India was #1 on the list to get her. Can anyone confirm this?

Ok, so I'm wrong. It's what I heard on another board. Take it easy and put the mouse down. :nuker:

Man, that really irks me.

You'd think the Royal Navy would have enjoyed having a substantial piece of history such as this from which to showcase its historic aircraft and other artifacts. The measely asking price couldn't have been too much of a factor for the British government. One more substantial touchstone of the Golden Era allowed to pass into the hands of the smelters (in 2004 no less)! Everyone's loss.

I know that quite an effort was made to preserve her, but all those plans fell through in the end. It was even offered up on ebay for a time.

Now, like so many others before her, she is just a memory.
