With its passenger door, it would be nice to see it fly in airline markings....once you find out which airlines had left side doors.

S/N 4128. Originally built for United, but not delivered. Converted from right hand door to left hand door. Accepted into AAF 22 July 1941. Sold to Northwest Airlines as NC33327 04 July 1944 then to Mid Continent, Braniff, Trans Texas then through a number of private operators and then to PBA / Air Sunshine...

Hmm. NMF with 1941 Army markings would look pretty sharp. Cubs2jets, were the squadron assignments listed? Would it have been put in a headquarters squadron with the airline interior?

The cost of painting might be a high percentage of the purchase price.

This is what Joe Baugher site says:

7707 MSN 4128 ex-NC33649 (not delivered). To USAAF Jul 22, 1941. Used in training by 5th AF 317th TCG 39th TCS Sep42.

This is a snip from the book Douglas Propliners.

My original post information comes from The Douglas DC-3 and its predecessors

I see mixed information as to moving door from right to left. The interiors were equipped as "troop carrier transports with reinforced floors".

I know this is a warbird forum, but considering the rarity of genuine prewar DC-3s, it would be a shame not to paint it in civil airline (war or pre-war) markings.
