The WAH64 Apache AH Mk 1 has been withdrawn from use by the British Army Air Corps and just one has been released for public display. This aircraft ZJ224 is a combat veteran from Libya and Afghanistan where in an attempt to rescue a wounded comrade Royal Marines rode on its wings and sponsons landing in a Taliban controlled compound where the helicopter's crew engaged the Taliban with their side arms.
The aircraft has now gone on public display in the UK at the Army Flying Museum, Middle Wallop. Hampshire, where the museum was proud to have the aircraft unveiled by King Charles who was at Middle Wallop to hand over the post of Colonel in Chief of the Army Air Corps to HRH The Prince William, The Prince of Wales.
This will be the only Apache AH Mk 1 to be released for public display which will make it a unique display item in Europe.
