Help identify this fighter(?) glass

Can anyone identify this glass said to be from a fighter? I was told from a P-38, but I cannot match it with anything except possibly the inner bulletproof screen on an early P-38 maybe. The actual glass portion measures 12" long x 9.75" across on rounded end and 11.625" across flat end. When flipped the smaller glass on the other side is 10.875" long x 9" x 10.375".

I find no part numbers, symbols or other ID. The black oval is 2-7/8" long and about 15/16" wide, and is only on one glass.
