Rumor is that part of the settlement is that Collings can never take another passenger up for hire in any of their aircraft ever again. Can someone verify or deny this?

If correct, that would pretty much be the end of the vast majority of flying operations for them.

That would be a strange addition to a settlement like this if you ask me... but who knows. I suspect we'll only learn of something like this through the foundation itself. The other parties don't really have to disclose anything about such a settlement and may not want to.

It would seem that would be easy to check.
Just look at their website or give them a call and see if they are taking reservations.

It also seems very hard to enforce being that this is a civil agreement relating specifically to Collings Foundation. It would be very easy to simply spin up a new business entity, sell the aircraft to the new entity, then re-certify for exemption under the new entity. The FAA obviously has jurisdiction over the the exemption and there will be hurdles there, but the FAA is not governed by whatever agreement is made in this civil suit.

Part of the settlement might be nobody can discuss it. That's not uncommon in high profile (and high dollar) settlements.

It's actually stated in the first post: "Terms of the settlement, which was mediated by a retired judge, will not be made public...". If it were to involve a cessation of passenger carrying, you would not be able to keep that out of the news.

Between what I can only imagine as a near impossible insurance rate after this , if they could even get it, and the FAA, I cannot imagine them ever restarting the tour. The crash was now four years ago and the worst of Covid is over , there’s no sign of them coming back. Nothing to do with a civil settlement, which would have no control over this.
