I spent last month in England, touring around aviation museums and collections, airfields, memorials and other interesting aviation sites. Along the way I recorded around 20 episodes for my Wings Over New Zealand Show podcast, which I am releasing under the sub-series title of Wings Over Britain. So far six episodes are online ready to download or stream for free. They are:

WONZ 276: Wings Over Britain - Ross Boyens
Ross is a Kiwi who joined the RAF, flew Harriers in the Falklands War, and flew with the Red Arrows. He also ejected after shooting himself down.

WONZ 277: Wings Over Britain - Navy Wings
I was given a guided tour around the Navy Wings hangar and aeroplanes by Rob Jones and Lee Howard

WONZ 278: Wings Over Britain - Brooklands Museum
I visited the brilliant Brooklands Museum, and spoke with curator Andrew Lewis and former director, New Zealander Allan Winn.

WONZ 279: Wings Over Britain - Biggin Hill
I got the detailed history of RAF Biggin Hill from its earliest days in WWI through till WWII from museum guide Dave Cole at the Biggin Hill Memorial Museum, and I also spoke with Margaret Wilmot about St George’s RAF Chapel of Remembrance there.

WONZ 280: Wings Over Britain - The Fleet Air Arm Museum
At the Fleet Air Arm Museum, part of the National Museum of the Royal Navy, I was given a brilliant tour guided by the principle conservator Dave Morris.

WONZ 281: Wings Over Britain - Sandy's Spitfire
I spoke with Tony Hoskins about the restoration to flight of a Supermarine Spitfire PR.IV that he discovered and recovered, and about that aircraft's pilot Alastair 'Sandy' Gunn who was a key member of The Great Escape, and ended up murdered by the Germans. Tony also detailed the plans for the National PRU Memorial, to remember the Photo Reconnaissance Squadron pilots, aircrew and ground staff.

There are many more to come. I hope you will enjoy listening to some of them, and subscribe to the series.

Re: Sandy's Spitfire

The surname of the pilot was Gunn not Dunn.

Thanks.
