Hi all,
I wrote this news item for Scramble:

https://www.scramble.nl/military-news/s ... -argentina

It describes the fate of an Argentinian Skyvan used in the so-called 'Flights of Death'.
May be of interest to some of you.
Regards
Gert

That is pretty gruesome.

But cheers to the Argentinians for facing the demons of their history, rather than trying to pretend they never happened, or worse, claiming that teaching about them is unpatriotic.

If I wanted political opinions, I'd turn on the TV.

Wait a minute!! This is an historic aircraft, returned to its "home" country (from outdoor storage in the U.S.).

This is not a "political opinion", any more than the holocaust is such. This is history, with an aviation component, being preserved. A country has gone to great trouble to preserve a warbird that was likely soon to be lost. Celebrations are in order!

Indeed. To find a display of an aircraft from which unknown numbers of terrified bound civilians were tossed while in the air, that's some next-level creepiness there.

Pretty sure "old iron" was referring to the comment by "Stang Stung" and not to the contents of the OP. I happen to agree.

"War is the continuation of politics by other means"- Clausewitz?
All warbirds are inseparably connected to the politics of the governments who commissioned their designs, bought them, and flew them.
As much as some warbird fans would like to deny it.
