I think I remember someone posting older photos like this some time ago, but couldn't find it in a search. Disregard if it's redundant. Several Mustangs in civil colors from back in the day - these are scanned slides, though, so quality is pretty poor. Presented with minimal commentary - fill in the blanks if you wish:

I recall wearing out the Air Classics issue that detailed the rebuild of Cripes A Mighty, as seen in these photos. I could always pick it out with the partial kill marking on the cowl. I belive this was the John Shafhausen airplane that is now with Kermit Weeks? Maybe not the 1st attempt at an accurate P-51 restoration (or paint scheme) but certainly one of the first in the movement.

Pearl Lake campground in Redgranite. I’m sure there are folks on this site who can pretty much list the current status of every one of those airframes

I always did like that paint scheme.It appears that it is a blue-noser now.

Dad and I sleeping under the wing of his Globe Swift that year. Dad was a good friend of CF-FUZ owner.
I wasn’t a teenager yet. I was overwhelmed by all those big powerful airplanes.

The J2F-6's in that first pic are Kermit's (airworthy, not actively flown), EAA's (on display), and NM USAF Dayton's (on display).

Ironic that none of the three more actively flying now were part of this group.

I keep checking back in to this thread (some great shots of lots of subjects I remember, thanks).

Probably almost 75 cents per gallon!
