Does anyone know of any good websites with pictures of racing and/or civillian P-51s from the 1940s to the 1970s BESIDES http://www.mustangsmustangs.com? I'm doing a project and am looking for a good paint scheme.

Thanks,
Ryan

The International Plastic Modellers Society Special Interest Group (Abbr to IPMS SIG!) 'Bent Throttles' would be worth a view. I'm a member... http://members.chello.se/ipmsairrace/bt.htm

There was a book on racing Mustangs by Dusty Carter - can't remember title though...

The three Osprey 'Reno' books are worth looking out for.

How about doing a search for "Gentlemen You Have a Race" written by John Tegler.

Ryan,

I have a feature on my website on Reno 1968 that has Mustang photos.

Cheers,

Ron

Hi Ryan--

I've got a copy of the aforementioned book (albeit a slightly wrinkly one: it was under a water pipe that cracked in my basement a couple winters ago!). There are many shots in there of racing '51s from Reno (1964-83) and also Cleveland 1949. I could photocopy and snail-mail some your way if you like...?

Cheers

Steve T

Thanks but I'm mostly looking for color shots. I'm slowly working on a tutorial on redrawing cardmodel kits for http://www.cardmodels.net and I'm trying to decide on a simple, but striking civilian paint scheme for a P-51. At this point I've pretty much made up my mind to do one of the following:

http://www.mustangsmustangs.net/p-51/p51who/152.shtml
http://www.mustangsmustangs.net/p-51/p51who/9.shtml
http://www.mustangsmustangs.net/p-51/p51who/234.shtml

If anyone has more pictures of these aircraft or a similar paint scheme, I'd sure like to see them.

Ryan
