I visited Hempstead, TX today.

In front of the County courthouse buulding, there is a monument to the armed services.

The Navy depicts a weird looking F-14 (I know what it is)

Saludis,

Tulio

That's the non swing wing single seat version of the F-14.

A bit like the beginning of the old Navy themed JAG TV series which showed an AH-1 (not a USMC twin version) in the opening credits.I

I have seen similar errors in vet-themed murals painted on trucks and vans.

So we have an Eagle masquerading as a Tomcat or a Tomcat masquerading as an Eagle.

It's using the new Shape-Shifting (Sh-Sh Camo) camouflage so you'll be confused as to what just bombed you.....

That kind of uninformed mistake happens all the time in the news. . . and other places.

I work for a major aerospace and defense contractor. Last year at work we were shown a "hooray for us!" video that showcased our products and technology and what a difference we make. There were many brief snippets of various weapon systems in action. One clip showed a group of fighter jets zooming by. They were MiG 29s! We all got a good laugh out of that. Apparently someone told management, and they stopped showing that video.

Ya gotta love it.

An absolutely fantastic mistake that made me chuckle a few years back...

Here in the UK we have a now banned political party called the British National Party (BNP), basically a bunch of neo-Fascists who hid under a semi-respectable façade. A few years ago they had a manifesto launch that made the news, one of their key points being the number of Eastern European immigrants coming into the UK via the EU, especially Poles. This was apparently not what the war was fought for, and the huge picture of a Spitfire that they had as a backdrop supposedly stood for the British spirit of keeping foreigners out.

The Spitfire in question? A Mk.V Spitfire of 303 Kościuszko squadron!!! There were some red faces when this was pointed out...

The local Trader Joe's has a mural on the wall depicting NAS Glenview. In the background is a Corsair with the tail code "TJ" - OK, I get that. But the airplane photo the artist copied for the main image? This one:

(Gus McCrea photo from fineartamerica.com)

Glenview's tail code was V, dammit! :x
