HELP! Need HIGH RES Vought Factory Image!

Wed Mar 17, 2021 1:26 pm

Hello All,

I'm currently working a new and exciting display for our museum, the Connecticut Air & Space Center, and am in need of some assistance from the WIX Braintrust
I'm looking for the highest quality / resolution image of the VOUGHT-SIKORSKY Corsair Production Line.
Preferably one of the pictures from this December 42 shoot. But from the front view.

If anyone has any sources, raw files, or links to a large sized file, I would be most grateful!

To be correct, that’s not the “Chance Vought Corsair Production Line“
It is the Vought Sikorsky Production Line.

B&W or COLOR?

I have plenty of both.

During WWII Vought also produced the OS2U Kingfisher presumably from the same factory site. Can you tell me if Vought delivered those aircraft in the landplane configuration or with the float attached. Perhaps it is just not captured by the photograph but I do not see a seaplane ramp.

Thanks,

These OS2U pictures might be in the plant...

Preferably color, but I don't think a color image of the Corsair Production Line exists.

You are correct sir.

We have a pair that originally belonged to a Rosie. At some point it appears that the original white coveralls were ruined somehow, so she had the logo removed and stitched onto he back of a pair of grey coveralls.

Yes indeed there was a seaplane ramp built in 1928/9 along with the rest of the original Sikorsky factory when he moved the company from Long Island. This was one of the reasons Igor moved to Stratford in the first place. Access to a harbor / inlet for seaplanes (the company's main export at the time) as well as the airport across the street for land-based aircraft. Not to mention the rail line up the road a short distance. You can see the the ramp jutting out into the Housatonic River from Mark's picture.

They are indeed! But I'm only looking for pictures of the Corsair Production Line at this time since it was arguably the most known / popular aircraft to ever be designed and produced in this factory.

I have quite a few photos that I believe are Stratford. Happy to send you the whole batch to review.

Chris you can send me a PM if you like and we can figure how to give you access.

I believe these may have been taken when Vought had moved to East Hartford.
They built Kingfishers and Vindicators there before the consolidated move to Stratford and becoming Vought-Sikorsky.
