During one of my schools at Ft. Rucker in 79 I took a picture of the US Army C-47 in the museum with tail number 12436.In my John M. Andrade s/n book I can't match it to any of the C-47 aircraft or DC-3 types that were taken over at the time. Can anybody figure out what model it is and the whole s/n? Thanks.

It is an R4D-5 Bu. No. 12436. Later it was re-designated as a C-47H in 1963 and went from the Navy to the Army in 1970. It was originally built as USAAF C-47A-30-DL serial 42-23757, but was delivered to the USN instead.
