Hi all -

I made this 7 foot long Christmas light display as a gift for my wife. Her favorite plane is the P-47 so “Dottie Mae” was an easy choice.

I built it in secret while we were both working from home. Surprised her with it a few nights ago. Fun!

the idea that anyone's wife could have a 'favorite' airplane of any type, that just blows my mind. Airplanes are as interesting to my wife as a skateboard (as in not one bit).

My wife's favorite is the Corsair.
She says it's the only airplane she can identify 100% of the time.

Ditto! I wish there was medication to change that. Thankfully we do have other things in common...

My wife has tolerated my interest for 38 years. Never really was interested, I got a lot of uh huh's if I talked about it. My son is an aircraft mechanic working on old planes so when we get together she just leaves the room!
This past February I got a call from my son that they had a Corsair in the shop for servicing (N11Y). We went out there on our way to town one day and She got the grand tour of the warbird hangar. The corsair, a couple of Migs and L-39s and an L-29. Came away from it very impressed and loving it all once she got to see up close and touch. When the corsair spent several days doing test flights around our area she was the first out the door with binoculars in hand.
So, miracles DO happen!

Mine has shown a level of indifference that staggers my imagination to this day.
She's very bright but just doesn't care about a lot of stuff.
I understand she showed no interest in the displays at the Imperial War Museum and the French Museum of the Army when we went across the pond (first time for her) 2 years ago, but when I was standing a few feet from the Rosetta stone in the British Museum, it meant nothing to her. This was probably the most significant archeological find in human history for the info gotten from it, and it was just a rock to her... :roll:

While the original idea of my post was to share the P-47 Display, I’m pleased that we’ve all had the chance for a nice round of family therapy/ marriage counseling!!!

Unintended consequences strike again!

We have a tree that is motorized & slowly rotates. This morning I got "I see what you did to the tree" after it was discovered to have a Huey orbiting around it on the end of a piece of TIG rod...
