I'm working on a profile for the Browning M2 for the USAAF Resource Center and I pull a picture from an Technical Manual. I've tried to clean it up and would like your opinion of the result.

Original:

The version I created.

what do you think? Is it worth the effort (about 30 minutes or so) or should I just use the original?

I believe it is a better rendition.

Yes I think you have improved the clarity of it. The original photos are very good in their own right all the same so It is all down to the individual I suppose. A difficult one.

Better ... but worth your time? Only you can decide but the original was certainly sufficient unless you're just looking for a project.

As others have said, it depends on whether you want a project or not. Your rework has greater clarity, but the original is functional. Having done some projects like this, your time per page will drop precipitously as you figure out shortcuts and standards.

The picture looks much improved. I have to point out that the word “Receiver” is spelled incorrectly.

The original is workable as is, but the one you worked on has a nice presentation (but I am extremely bothered by the serif font replacing the sans serif font). Unless it is for something like a museum poster board, publication or similar focused high profile work, I'm not sure it is worth the effort...

Looks clearer to me.

The correct spelling is "Receiver" though.

Saludos,

Scott, I think it looks great, in my opinion, definitely worth the effort. Are you planning on cleaning up more of these?

That's the plan, I have hundreds of manuals and I want to incorporate illustrations like these. It will take time though.
