Seen on Midwest Aero Restorations facebook page that "Frenesi" made her first flight yesterday after restoration... She is wearing the same markings as before and looks beautiful !!!

Yes, it belongs to the Friedkins, but is not the K-model known as"Fragile but Agile" - they have two "K's". (Technically, the restored "Frenesi" is/was an F-6K, as it originally entered service, but has been long without the original camera ports.)

It is such a gorgeous machine, and it is so great to see it and the "Frenesi" markings complete and flying again. Of note, it has an N-9 reflector gunsight and ring & bead sight installed, as per the original P-51D-5-NA production block (for which the original "Frenesi" was), and although the restored "Frenesi" doesn't have a D-5 instrument panel, the flying instruments outline is done in white, rather than yellow, as was the way it was on the early production blocks (D-5 and D-10), before the change to the yellow stripe/outline.

Looks fantastic! Mustangs just look perfect in OD to me. Here's a link to the photo set for those interested:

Fantastic restoration! I love the fact that this aircraft is: 1) Olive Drab - which is somewhat rare on "D" models, 2) Single Seat, 3) not highly polished or in a high gloss paint scheme.

It looks very authentic! Good Job, Mike V. !

I'm just as excited as seeing the Me-109 Gustav that is also in the shop. That will be an award winner for sure and will perfectly complement HJGB. I'm really hopeful that the owner is able to take it to lots of airshows and tour with it, but unless he has a BOATLOAD of money, I don't know how willing he is to put many hours on a 250 hr TBO DB 605.

The owner himself, Dan Friedkin - which only seems natural, given his experience (including having flown numerous different Mustangs over the years - also, this being the 7th flying Mustang in the Friedkin collection alone).
