"Hi Everyone, and especially those new viewers of Plane Resurrection on Netflix who have recently found us. Many many of you have further searched our featured aircraft and are naturally asking about Maurice Hammond from Hardwick Warbirds.
Thank you all for your very sincere comments and concern following the incident of October 2016. Firstly we acknowledge and honour John Marshall and his family and our prayers are with them as always.
Maurice is not yet at the controls of an aircraft, but yesterday he was at the hangar where winter scheduled maintenance on the rest of the fleet continues, and he was piloting a pretty mean electric oven and sandwich griddle as he cooked for the team. He is up and about, suffering quite a bit with the metalwork in his neck and 'looking forward' to more surgery. His recovery will take a long time but he is bit by bit recovering.
As you'd expect he's throwing his mental energy into the engineering company, his Merlin Engine business, and of course his family and grandchildren. All the family, Diane Hammond, Leah Young, Emma Hammond and all their partners have been magnificent during this time, and the support from friends, colleagues and the general public has been outstanding.
Janie, and the future?, well none of us know, but for now we are delighted that this special P51 lives on in a broadcast sense, while she's 'resting' with the AAIB before she is brought home, in perhaps a year or so."
Thanks so much, glad he's doing better
