L188 Electra preserved

Nice to see that a derelict Bolivian Military Electra stored at Las Paz Bolivia, has been granted a new ease on life !

See the before pics, pretty sad shape, broken windows, missing parts, fading paint etc.....

Here is some more info. This is the new Bolivian Air Museum open on May 22, 2015 located at the El Alto Air Base, La Paz, Bolivia.

Looks like a few other warbird in the bunch, DC3, Herc, etc....

I haven't looked on Wiki...but are there any civil Electras preserved?

Wiki lists a few, with one in Brazil perhaps being the "best" preserved in civil service and inside. Seems most survivors were converted for cargo ops or military use.

There are some firefighter conversions flying here in British Columbia. There is one that occasionally comes hammering over my house on final approach to the local airport each summer. A very charismatic machine - some how has a different feel from the more common P-3.

The look of the windows make me wonder if this was not a repaint but a wrap job? Wraps seem to be gaining popularity and have come down in price, but unsure how it will last in the elements.

NASCAR racers have wraps, so we know they'll stay on at 150 mph speeds..but they don't have to last a long time.
As far as aircraft, I wonder if they'd stand up to rain/hail abrasion better than paint? If they're as tough as helicopter b l made rape, they'd stand up well, considering the purpose of the tape is to prevent erosion.
