from the FB WIX group? Posted about a toolbox (full of tools) being sold/auctioned off that belonged to a LA City helicopter mechanic who suddenly died recently.
Privacy setting was wrong & I got a msg saying the picture couldn't be seen. As soon as I changed the privacy setting so the guy who asked could see it, I'm unable to access the group.

Tell me this is some glitch & I didn't actually get banned for trying to help raise $$ for the FD mechanics family or alert mechanics that some aviation tools & a huge box were available?

This was what I had posted:

I guess I'm going to get banned from here now also....

I was banned for 90 days because I said the Space shuttle isn't a Warbird. I guess it depends on which mod you offend as to whether you'll be banned or not. I know who my favorite mod is.

Keep in mind that we recently had a lot of problems with spammers both here and on FB. I accidently deleted a good thread between some serious spam threads recently. Mistakes happen. I'm not a mod on FB, so best talk to Scott I think.

Wouldn't/couldn't the space shuttle be considered a "Cold Wat" warbird?

Here it goes again. I feel another 90 days coming on. My understanding is that a Warbird is a former military aircraft now owned by and operated by civilians. Does the Shuttle fit this description?

The space shuttle flew classified missions in support of the Department of Defense. That makes it a military cargo craft. Since they are now in the care of civilian museums, I would say yes, it fits that description precisely.

Privately owned and operated. Any private operations going on where we'll see one at an Airshow? I'll leave it at that as one of the mods is testy on this subject.

Discussion is discussion.... if ur going to quote the Wikipedia definition of a warbird that it has to be operated at an air show to be a "warbird", ok.....but then none of the static displays at any museum are "warbirds" either because they don't fly. Or DOC wasn't a warbird until it flew... I think the term is more generic than it is specific. The p-38 that was on a pole at McGuire AFB was just as much a "warbird" as the airworthy glacier girl.

If it's a Warbird to you, that's fine.

I have always considered the definition of a "warbird" to be any aircraft that served in a military capacity. I didn't know that civilian ownership or operation had anything to do with it. As a flyer of radio control scale models I attend many "warbird" only events and that is how they are defined, any military aircraft. My .02 cents only of course.
