I went looking for my fathers pictures of the Snowbirds form the 70's at Oshkosh and found quite a few interesting shots. I shared some in the "Color Me Gone: thread, but decided it may be better to have a thread for images not related to that Mustang incase there was interest in discussing other shots.

yes, MSQ was there in 1974 for sure. One of my earliest 'finds' in the boxes of slides I have. This was scanned in years ago before someone started helping me, so it should really be done again.

The yellow Mustang with the orange/brown stripe was Leroy Penhall's
:)

As much as Vlado's Achilles-heel is the green painted clamshell doors, Robin Collard's kryptonite is Miss Suzi Q's paint job.

One of my favorites, however, as it fit Burnstine to a T!

The green and brown plastic Satilite porta pottys were introduced in 1972 so 1973 is a great guess-

The slide with the noses including Miss Suzi Q is marked August 1973. I would have never guessed it would be identified by the porta-potties. I recall the all white fiberglass ones we affectionately referred to as "white houses".

Interesting. Not being that well versed in portable toilet history I was just going by the fact that Penhall's Mustang wore Bob Hoover's colors at Oshkosh in 1974. Then it crashed, so it could not be any later. I'm not sure, but was Burnstine's N69QF painted in those colors prior to 1973?

That leaves the question as to which ones the other planes are. My suggestions are:

CWH Firefly CF-BDH which crashed in 1977.

The Yellow nosed 51 might be N5471V.

The Red/ Gold/ White gear door behind the guy in blue jacket belongs to F8F-1 N9G.

Burnstine's N69QF.

Max Hoffman's N6310T.

This one is more tricky. At first I thought it might be CF-USA, but having looked at details in other photos of this 51 from the same timeframe seems to disqualify that.

Leroy Penhall's N6519D
