I have two R-985 that were bought surplus years ago from the Navy having hydro locked #5 cylinders both. I'm looking for advice as to which is the best way to economically have both engines disassembled and all of the best parts put into one for a demonstration engine? I'm not looking to have anything airworthy but to be able to run on the ground and then sell the second core engine.

Any ideas ? How do must museums with demo engines do this ?

ive done this a few times for my own enjoyment. get a manual and take them apart to see whats broken etc inside. take best parts of both and re assemble. You can build a trailer to mount it on. be safe, these engines make a lot of power. look at you tube for videos on what others have done.
