That is one rough looking Hurricane in the first picture!

Any idea where those were shot? I had an uncle that flew L-1's and L-5's, among other a/c with the 164th Liaison over there.

I think an L-5 would make a great restoration project. A distinct military design with no real civilian counterpart and used extensively in all theaters. Now to find one and the boat with the money in it.

The L-5 with the 75lb parachute pack attached is with The 1st Air Commando & is taken at Broadway, probably 5th liaison Sq.

Projects are out there. It is a buyer's market for L-5s right now. They're awesome to restore and fly. So much history. I have a flyer and three projects just for that reason!

If it was the 5th, then it would have probably been with the 1st Liaison Group and not the 1st AC. From the info that I can find, the 5th and the 1st AC never operated from the same locations, though it's possible that they were in and out of some of the forward areas at the same time. Next time I'm at dad's house, I will have to get my uncle's records stored there.
