Comet Dive Bomber "Suisei" from Yap Island

While I was on Yap last month searching for my uncle's plane we wondered if other planes had been removed from the island since the war. Here's a Japanese Comet Dive Bomber that was removed and restored in 1980:

i don't think it looks that bad, from a distance anyway. anything is better than it's languishing in the salt air. as to the gunsight comment... the japanese had a pretty sharp looking illuminated reflector sight that was technologically pretty advanced. used in a number of frontline fighter aircraft. the judy being a torpedo type plane is probably why it has the crude tube sight. i can't say for certain if the reflector sight was used exclusively in japanese fighters, but i would bet so. regards, tom
