I'm trying to find a little more background on Mr. Friedman if possible.

I know that he had a company called Everco Industries, and that he was killed in the crash of his Hawker Sea Fury on 12-16-1978. He apparently had a few warbird fighter types during the 1970's, but I can't recall having heard the name mentioned before. Any further insight would be much appreciated. Thanks!

My understanding at the time was that he lost control on takeoff.

Frank Sanders ended up with the wreckage and had it at Chino for some time. The registration was incorporated into Dreadnought.

I lived in that area at the time and remember the news reports.

No info on Friedman though...

I was told that there were people on the scene (TV news crew or something) who just stood by as the trapped pilot burned to death in the wreckage. Something which they were blamed for later. Can anyone confirm or deny this version of events?

He was the first friend of my dad's I remember getting killed in warbirds.. He had a blue Corsair with (I think) checkerboard cowling. One of the first warbird Corsairs to appear at Oshkosh in the 70's. HE purchased a Centaurus powered Sea Fury and it got away from him on takeoff or shortly thereafter on one of his first flights. Stall/ spin type of accident. He was very nice and didn't mind talking to commoners and kids like me.
