I am in DFW for the next 10 days or so and was wondering what museums etc I should hit in the area. I have 0% experience here so please be descriptive!

Go see Chuck @ Cavanaugh's in Addison...

There's a CAF wing in Lancaster, and I believe over in Ft. Worth / Meacham.

I visited Frontiers of Flight just this week. It's a nice little museum and worth a visit.

Find your way to Breckenridge. We have a F3A1, and a Bearcat going together.

West of DFW is the CR Smith Museum, sponsored by American Airlines.

Thanks for the responses. I am going to go to the CR smith museum today after I get out of training class. Looks like Cavanaugh & Frontiers of Flight on Saturday.

CR Smith was cool, a different take on an aviation museum than I am typically used to. Their DC-3 was nice, and it was fun to be able to climb around in it and take it all in.

Frontiers of Flight was great also. Lots of nice exhibited aircraft and some great interactive displays as well. I was particularly blown away by the Charles D. Mohrle exhibit and bought the DVD. I wish I was there a year or so earlier so I could have possibly met him. Truly great stuff there!

Cavanaugh was excellent. Lots of neat aircraft, pretty well presented and a fairly nice facility. I wish I could see the aircraft "awaiting restoration" per the website. That has always been one of my favorite parts of visiting a warbird museum: looking at a pile of parts and trying to figure out what it is/was. If there was one recommendation or request I would like to make to ALL museums out there is to at least give us a glimpse of the "junk piles"!
