future of a jet warbird/cold war airshow

Any airshow organizers here interested in chatting about the prospect of a jet warbird/cold war theme airshow please contact me at warhawknm@yahoo.com

This would be a huge one time thing. Would require several years of work and also would need to help get several aircraft airworthy again that have been dormant from the airshow circuit for years.

I agree Rick! With the planned F-4, F-100, A-4, F-86, MiG-21, MiG-17, T-33 maybe and possibly other jets and props like the Skyraider, etc., Houston this year is probably about as close as you can get to this type of theme.

That being said, a future jet themed show with some additional jet warbirds that may be under restoration currently (like the Wings and Rotors F4H-1F/F-4A, some other Sabres, and others....) would be a great idea to see come together at some point.

I would like to see the MAAM's Neptune return to the airshow scene with this airshow and Yanks EC-121. Again it would take a few years but be worth it. We also have a C-119 possible and Grumman Trackers/Traders, with a few Skyraiders.

I forgot we could also have both FIFI and DOC since both saw service in Korea and other jobs like mid-air refueling and weather recon. Also a B-52 fly by or demo.

This airshow would help foot the bill to return a F9F, Neptune, and EC-121 back to flying so they can come to the show.

Nathan - I like your line of thinking! Would be outstanding to see the EC-121 and Neptune flying at an air show. Hopefully a Panther will be back flying too one of these days.

A Panther would be great.

I would also like to see a F-80/P-80 (a T-33 with the fuselage plug removed and a new canopy would likely be the way to go), a F-84 and the P-59.

I do like the idea of a mega show several years in the planning to give folks a target to aim for.

Im working on finding an organization or airshow group that would like to talk about the idea. We have a big gap, ww2 vets and now vets. But vets in between the wars and the aircraft they flew have been slightly forgotten. These guys are just a few years younger then the ww2 generation and not much longer to hear their stories before they are gone too.

Since someone was so nice and rudely and disrespectfully decided to email me a nice long letter I would like to call them out on it.

It's always nice to dream up these things (like quickly restoring some jet back into the air), but who do you think is going to pay for it?

Or do you have some contacts with extremely wealthy people who will gladly put up millions of their dollars in order that someone else can restore and fly their own play thing?
Don't count on that ever happening.
People like you (wannabes) will always dream up things that they think are super great, just so they can hang around with and be associated (they think) with these old aircraft and especially the people connected to them. But when it comes down to actually doing the long hours of hard and dirty work, they suddenly seem to find that they have prior commitments somwhere else.
And you'll always have some back slappers and asskissers (like this jwc50 person) who'll tell you your ideas are great, or even fabulous, but they too only want to be a part of things (in name only) as long as they don't have to do any of the work.
So dream all you want, but unless you can come up with some way to pay for these dreams yourself, keep them to yourself.
Now it's time to grow up and quit being such a worthless WANNABE.

And this is why it is harder to keep the warbird movement going. People jealous of other peoples ideas. Instead of working against others due to jealousy and envy, why not all work together. And as quickly as that someone ruins it's. But not by much. Moving on...............

My only comment is that jwc50..i.e. Jim Cochran has been a supporter of ours for a long time. He may not be close enough to get his hands in it, but his financial contributions have been helpful.
