Good story, pop2 but they seem to be getting their aircraft, tanks and infantry screwed up.
Same old story, I guess.

Aliens

I've been working on the perfect show for History Channel: Swamp Road Pawn Picker Aliens. Every other cable channel can simply suspend broadcasting in my time slot.

I'm halfway through the first episode and like it a lot. I think it is a great mix of history and re-enactment. Will never be perfect for rivet counters, but Kudos to shows like this, much, much, much better than reality trash.

I was surprised to see that the Nazis used B-17s during the Blitzkrieg.

I watched the first two (two hour) segments. I found the WWI parts interesting, but only because I don't really know much about the Great War. But when they started getting into WWII, I was turned off by the poor writing, poor narration (they used the actor who played "Hawkeye" in "The Avengers," who fumbled through the script like a high school kid) and mish-mash of public domain archival footage and stolen movie clips, none of which were correct for the events they were supposed to represent (did you know Dave Tallichet's B-17 bombed London during the Blitz, and Chamberlain flew to Berlin on the CWH Lancaster?) Frankly, the re-enactments were probably the best bits, but even they were decidedly low-budget and at points ridiculously melodramatic (the opening bit where Hitler gets his signature mustache by trimming it to fit under a gas mask in the trenches set the "comic book superhero origin story" tone for the whole thing.) I probably won't bother watching the final installment, unless I'm really bored and need a laugh.

I got a kick out of John McCain saying Patton's ego was "over the top" or something of the sort. This from a guy who's never seen a TV camera he didn't love.

Actually, I have felt it quite useful. For example, I learned that when invading the lowlands, the Luftwaffe used C-130's to drop their paratroopers. I'm thinking that will make an interesting model for the IPMS next year....and apparently I'll have some sort of video documentation to back it up.

I don't think I've ever seen a show about the B-17 that didn't show 109s and 190s biting it on fighter gun camera footage.
