Sad ending to an interesting story. If you subscribe to Warbirds International you can read the story behind the fleet of Trackers in Florida. See volumes April/May 2014, vol. 33-4 and June 2014, vol. 33-5 for great story presented by George Verney. While vacationing in St. Augustine during June 2011, I had just missed the scrappings by 3 weeks or so. Local Scrap dealer broke up aircraft. I visited nearby facility and land site of their last resting place. I was also told - as best as I can recall - that some parts may have gone to North Carolina, but memory foggy now....
Anyone know more about this, please comment....I believe that Walter Arnold whom took many great photos of the birds is from North Carolina.... :|

I always wondered why the Tracker/Trader was never a more popular warbird. R-1820s aren't too difficult to look after, and you can fold the wings to park them in a smaller hangar.
