Thank god that Jim is O.K.!

What a heart break. I've never met Jim, but my heart goes out to him and his family.

All the best to you sir!

I'm pretty sure that would have been Joe's son Jim. Joe, sadly, died in a Corsair a few years ago. (I'm not sure how much if any of that airplane lives on in this one. I've heard it's basically a new Corsair with the old dataplate and paperwork, but I'm sure there are others here who know more about it than I do.)

I've met Joe and Jim at airshows. Very, very nice people.

At least get the name straight, his dad Joe got killed in this airplane several years ago, & Jim rebuilt it, flew it, & until today, after getting a little off the runway on landing, (I don't know why, will find out tomorrow) had put on many fine displays.
I was there he is OK as far as i know. More later.

Very sorry you feel that way Robbie-
I got a news alert linked to the tv station saw what Corsair it was and transposed Jim for Joe. I've known it under both. The heading has always stated that Jim was ok.

So I saw this on a news link and came here to see what was posted about it. Is that not part of what information on WIX is about? Should a person wait a few days before posting anything?

I'm glad to hear the pilot is okay, and figured I'd get better information here, along with an identity on the aircraft involved. Until I saw this link posted here, I had no idea what plane it was other than a warbird.

Yeah hey Robbie, CLASS ACT my man with that Gloom and doom response, I posted about it to so I must be nothing more than a vulture in your eyes.....guess if it was up to you we'd NEVER KNOW some of these things happen......take a flying leap, dude...

As I think we posted at the same time Robbie, I will agree with you that we don't need to know the name of the person involved until their families have been properly notified. We've had two fatal accidents here in recent weeks with warbirds, and was glad at least the first one didn't have any names posted in the news.

Guys,...
It's about Jim and the Airplane. It's ok to start a column about the accident. It's been on the news and all over Facebook for hours BEFORE it hit WIX.
It's not "WIX" that's the problem, its the entire global social media.
Lets not let this topic get out of control like Eddie's. It's not the time to get into a pissing contests. I almost locked Eddie's and if this topic even starts to go there I will lock it. The topics need to stay the course.

Yes Roger it IS OK and yes here on WIX people discuss events, good, bad and whatever. Mostly about warbirds and there are areas for non aviation related.

X2. Always glad when someone is ok after a mishap.

Another X2 because if I want find out more (good or bad) than what the media reports I'd rather read it here where there are usually subject matter experts and people who speak the language. I would trust the people here over a news reporter. That's how I see it......
