Something looks amiss with that P-40 fuse. My guess is that it's a mock up and not the real deal.

Well well well!

That does indeed look like the former Bob Diemert "P-40". Which somewhat begs a question: I'd thought the Kittyhawk/P-40E "Shirley II" was this machine, remade into a stock P-40. Obviously at least the fuselage of Diemert's "P-40" was NOT used in that rebuild.

That makes sense, though: from what I recall, hardly any of the fuselage of Diemert's project was actually P-40 material, while the wings were largely original...Going on fallible memory, but I think "Old Exterminator" consisted of a partially-original cockpit section, original rebuilt wings, new-build rear fuselage, and tail surfaces a composition of Harvard and Bolingbroke parts. The engine may have been a Merlin rather than an Allison...?

Also IIRC, this may have been the former Granger Taylor project P-40; Granger used to run the engine occasionally. He disappeared some time around 1984 or so; not too long afterward this composite "P-40" turned up with Mr Diemert, who got it flying (!) only to have it come to grief en route to the USA a number of years ago.

That sure looks like the Granger Taylor/Diemert Kittyhawk. The reason the rear fuse looks off is that it contains some Harvard parts...

Found this webshots site with a "family friend's" pictures of the Diemert aircraft,

The Museum fuselage does look like Diemerts airframe.

I am not sure if this airframe is related? but it has the same cropped wings as the pre-restoration photo above, could this be prior to acquisition by Diemert?

The whole album is very interesting with rare pictures of Diemerts VAL divebomber being recovered as well as his Firefly!

Just wondering, has Diemert ever rebuilt an aircraft without using parts from other types of a/c or altering them in any sort of way????

Sorry to resurrect an 8 year old thread, but does anyone have any pics of the Diemert P-40 when it was in his hands? All of the links from this thread are down, and I've been going crazy trying to find a pic. Thanks in advance if anyone can help
