Warbird ID help needed from a Seattle/Vancouver WIXer

Fri Mar 21, 2014 4:05 pm

If anyone is planning a trip to the British Columbia Aviation Museum in Sidney, BC, Canada at the Victoria International Airport anytime soon, I could use your help.

They have a Sikorsky S-55 on outdoor display restored as a RCN, HO4S. The aircraft had the civil registration N4721 and is purported to be Bureau Number 129028, which formerly served with the USMC, USN and USCG.

For reasons I won't bore you with here, the ID as BuNo129028 is highly unlikely. It's apparently an all volunteer staff at the museum and though no one has stepped forward to crawl inside the helicopter, they did seem agreeable to letting someone else do so!

That's where you, intrepid volunteer, enter the picture. I need a photograph of and the written data from the modification data plate located aft of the cargo bulkhead, inside the aircraft, near to where the tail boom attaches to the fuselage.

PM me if you're interested in helping solve this warbird mystery, and thanks!

It's Dave McIntosh - daveymac82c, but wrong museum; Dave's associated with the Museum of Flight Langley, on the mainland, not the museum on Vancouver Island - however I think he's our nearest guy, and most likely to have a contact or able to help!
