As threatened in the Boxkite post, I am offering something at the other end of historic military aviation at Point Cook, from today, and especially for bdk. It was an historic day with the first RAAF Boeing C-17 operation to and from RAAF Point Cook, in Victoria, Australia. RAAF Point Cook is one week shy of 100 years of continual military operation as an airfield, and this (you may have heard) there will be a big airshow next weekend to celebrate.

So, can we expect there will be plenty of 'Moose' sightings in Oz?
Glad to see you back-

A new day in history! Australia seems quite pleased with their C-17 fleet.

Will any C-17s be based at Point Cook, or will they remain at Amberly?

Wish the RAAF wanted more!

The video linked to on FB shows various what I assume are temporary structures for the airshow.
And what was inside the C-17 is even more up-to-date!

bdk, they bought how many extra in addition to the original order already - three?

They'll remain at Amberley, this was for a delivery of a [grey] plastic toy. Point Cook hasn't had a C-17 in before because it's not big enough for operating or even normally taking such types. However we will have a C-17 on display for the airshow weekend for people to go 'wow' inside of. (I think I've seen USAF, RAF, RAAF and RCAF examples, and they're all the same colour - but they are pretty 'wow' inside.)

I'm sure the RAAF want more, and they're certainly getting used. But they don't have the cash for more over the other things they have to pay for, I expect.
